Meet Our Acquisitions Team: Elizabeth Hooley
Elizabeth Hooley, Acquisitions Manager at Wedgewood Homes, first met Cindy when she approached Wedgewood Homes with a problem. Cindy was approaching 70 years old. She had a Small Business Administration (SBA) loan to cover flood damage from Hurricane Harvey — using her house as collateral — and now she was about to lose it all.
Her home.
Her life’s work.
Her future.
They were all going to disappear in one week due to a foreclosure on the house.
With a lien against the home from the SBA loan, her choices were sparse. Foreclosure was her only option.
Elizabeth immediately set to work. She got a valuation for the home, called the bank to stop the foreclosure, and spoke with the Small Business Administration (SBA) to release the loan. It took a month of back-and-forth with the SBA to get the release, but, at last, she did.
In the end, Elizabeth and the Wedgewood Homes team bought the woman’s house, giving her a fresh start.
This is an example of what Elizabeth does as an Acquisitions Manager in Wedgewood Homes’ Houston office. Her job is focused on solving problems and making life-altering decisions that change lives.
Typical Day in Acquisitions
Elizabeth spends her days buying houses in the Houston market for Wedgewood Homes. She researches homes in the area in an effort to revitalize communities — one house at a time.
On a typical day, Elizabeth evaluates over a hundred homes, writes offers, and sets up inspections.
She also spends her time hosting events and creating collaborative relationships with Houston-area agents and wholesalers.
“Every day has its own set of challenges and puzzles to solve,” Elizabeth says. “We always say, there has never been a house we didn’t like. We just need to put the pieces of the puzzle together in a way that makes it a win for the seller, a win for the agent, and a win for us.”
Life Before Wedgewood Homes
Before joining Wedgewood Homes, Elizabeth Hooley was a residential real estate investor (REI) for eight years. She spent her days creating renovation plans for her investments, project managing with multiple vendors, and searching for new investment properties.
With this background, her role at Wedgewood Homes came naturally. She understands the home-buying process from start to finish and can find strategic solutions to complicated problems.
“You need a solution, and, if that’s not us, we want you to find the right solution as soon as possible.”
Problem-Solving with Wedgewood Homes
Elizabeth and the Wedgewood Homes team are expert problem-solvers. They start with the home seller’s goal and work backward. Whether the seller wants to be financially free, move across the country, downsize, or something else, Wedgewood Homes has the experience to help them reach their goal. Elizabeth works to find a solution that is a win for all parties.
And sometimes Wedgewood Homes isn’t the right solution and we will help you get pointed in the right direction.
“As soon as we understand what the seller needs, we can identify if we’re the right fit or not. We don’t tie up anyone’s time,” Elizabeth explains. “You need a solution, and, if that’s not us, we want you to find the right solution as soon as possible.”
Conclusion
Elizabeth Hooley is an integral part of the Wedgewood Homes’ Houston team. “We’re a large company, but with a very personal touch,” Elizabeth says. “We build real relationships. We aim to be a partner with agents and homeowners to be easy to work with. The win-win is our bigger goal.”
